The AI encyclical echoed many positions tech skeptics have argued over the years: keep kids off of smartphones; keep AI out of schools; don’t recklessly replace all workers; don’t indulge billionaire power trips; resist technocratic efficiency and eugenic perfectionism; reject transhumanist hubris, and self-negating posthumanism.
