Is it merely \u201cthe thought that counts\u201d? No, it\u2019s more than that. The thought becomes a renewal of self-belief, expressed in line-items of striving. It requires introspection, evaluation, and discernment\u2014hardly fashionable, to be sure. All I know is that they have worked for me at some level, so I\u2019m not sheepish about continuing the practice.
