At breakfast I was flipping through Twyla Tharp\u2019s <em>The Creative Habit,<\/em> searching for her discussion about generating ideas. She explains her adherence to \u201cthe unshakable rule that you don\u2019t have a really good idea until you combine two little ideas,\u201d and goes on to say, \u201cThat is why you scratch for little ideas. Without the little ideas, there are no big ideas.\u201d Later, during our typical tray lunch watching <em>Charlie Rose,<\/em> General David Patraeus said, &#8220;I wish that great ideas dropped from a tree like Newton\u2019s apple, but it doesn\u2019t work that way for me. We have to bang around a lot of small ideas to come up with the big idea.\u201d So there you have it.
