I like Jason Schwarzman (everybody likes Jason Schwarzman), and I liked David O. Russell&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0120188\/\" title=\"&quot;In the original posters for the film, David O. Russel gets full writing credit, although the story is based on a draft written by John Ridley. It wasn't until Ridley took legal action that he received a 'Story by' credit.&quot;\">Three Kings<\/a>, and I like high-concept movies.  Usually.<\/p>\n<p>What gets me, though, is that all the critics go &#8220;existential detectives!  Quantum mechanics!  It&#8217;s WACKY!&#8221; and nobody mentions <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Dirk_Gently\" title=\"&quot;Dirk bills himself as a 'holistic detective' who makes use of 'the fundamental interconnectedness of all things' to solve the whole crime, and find the whole person. In fact he is a con man.\">Dirk Gently<\/a>.  I&#8217;m not going to get huffy about this, because art is theft, but hasn&#8217;t <i>anybody<\/i> read those books?  They&#8217;re not as well known as the Hitchhiker&#8217;s Guide series, but they were still bestsellers.  Apparently <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=%22dirk+gently%22+%22i+heart+huckabees%22\" title=\"See, one of them is the same thing indexed twice.\">about six dorks on movie forums<\/a> are the only ones who&#8217;ve picked up on it.<\/p>\n<p>Yeah, that puts me in real good company.
