I speak and read aloud at about 200 wpm.  I read things that require only light processing at about 500 wpm; for heavier stuff like <a href=\"http:\/\/vitanuova.loyalty.org\/latest.html\" title=\"I drew the dinosaur!  Someone else drew the gnu.\">Vitanuova<\/a> or Neal Stephenson being expository, that drops to around 200 wpm.
