The microwave disappeared from the break room today, and lo and behold, behind it was a grimy “12TH FLOOR FIRST AID KIT.” I doubt anybody even knew it was there. If somebody had gotten frisky with the staple remover, we would have been forced to use mouse cords as crude tourniquets.

Maria is responsible for basically all of this

I got four Hellboys, two Supermans, a tombstone, a whoopee cushion and Graeter’s Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream Cake. I had a gonzo adventure with my friends and we drove off a cliff. I ate two orders of the best ribs in the universe. I won eighteen zillion games of Crimson Skies.

I have to invent a final project from thin air tonight and turn it in tomorrow, but I had a very good birthday.

Worked hard all day today on a big Internet Applications project (my very first servlet!) and have it practically done, which is pretty neat. In celebration, Maria and I are watching X-Mans on my new (used) DVD. Starting at 2320 hrs. I have to get up at 0630 hrs. This is gonna be awesome.

This morning, there was a kid two floors down screaming about helicopters for a good solid hour. Also, there were a bunch of helicopters. It was that kind of morning.

(Note: the preceding paragraph exists only to make sure that on April 24th, 2005, the first “Today in History” entry won’t be so obviously referencing the second one.)

A year ago, apparently, I was gasping with horror that I’d left the same cam pic up for a week; now I’m noticing that it’s practically May and I’ve only taken like ten all year. I don’t think I’m all that short on ideas; it’s just that since I no longer have to hit the NFD front page to make sure an entry has posted right, I hardly ever see it and ergo don’t get sick of it. This is really an advantage–remember, NewsBruiser Makes Everything Better–but I don’t want to let all my content feeds get neglected. I need to take more. Anybody want a plastic mullet portrait?

I really need to get around to what I’ve been planning to do since fall 2002, which is put up a navigable IdiotCam© archive and, while I’m at it, enable time-lapse cam posts into the future. I might as well hack together an RSS feed while I’m at it. Yet another project for the summer.

Did okay on the final, I think. And it stopped raining. Today is back but on probation.

In forty-five minutes, I have to walk a good half-mile from the bus stop to my dreaded Prob and Stat final. In the pouring rain. Today is fired.

I wasn’t here (at work) at the time, but apparently this went out company-wide over email last Friday:

“A red Chevrolet Corsica, License #——, located in the east parking lot, has caught on fire. The owner of the vehicle has not shown up in the parking lot. If this is your vehicle, please see the property manager on the 4th floor or the security officer.”

Yes, over email.

I’ve been panicking on and off for a little while here, trying to make myself remember to register for fall term. If they let me come back to school. But anyway, I registered really late last fall and didn’t get all the classes I wanted, so I keep beating myself about the head and shoulders, trying to make myself do it.

I finally remembered while at a university computer today, and clicked frantically through the (horrible) catalog system… to find that nobody else has registered either. I guess it’s okay to wait until summer, or at least until I meet with my advisor.

I did do one thing already, though. As of this fall, I am FINALLY IN SOFTWARE ENGINEERING.

I have filed the FAFSA six times, and that is too many times

Bet you’re all worried about your taxes now, huh? Tomorrow’s April 15th! WoooOOOooo! Tax Day! Better get ready! Eli’s comin’! Eli’s comin’!

Okay, actually I don’t even know anybody who’s freaked out about taxes. I was going to try and gloat because I got mine done a month ago, when I filed the FAFSA for hopefully the last time ever. Unless it’s not.

So no gloating. I guess I shouldn’t gloat anyway. It’s not like I know for sure I’ll be done with grad school in a year, or that… you know, it’s like those rare times when I get something done early. And there’s not any… I just…

Sigh.

Hey, this is the first time I’ve posted every day of the week since December. I want a cookie.
