Or so I keep reminding myself, despite a rapid onset of self-consciousness this morning. Sophie very kindly gave me a guest spot on her amazing newsletter YADAGEJ today! I admire the community she has built there so much that I am, in mercenary fashion, using this opportunity to backdoor-pilot a long-threatened newsletter of my own. It is called Kaijuville, because I have had that domain for like eighteen years and never did anything with it, so I guess we’ll see if writing emails holds my attention at least half that long.

An oversized pixel art badge for Kaijuville.
This blog isn’t going anywhere, nor are the email notifications from it that go out to exactly one person (hi Brian). But I think it will be nice to have a place to write without the mental history or internalized constraints I have silently applied to nfd over the last quarter-century.

While I’m talking about emails, I want to recommend a wonderful essay about emailing strangers by Zachary Kai. He makes a similar point to what I wanted to convey in “Composition” last year, but he brings quite a few more bona fides to his argument!
