I was without power for twelve days. Luckily I got trapped at Kelley Ridge so that I could keep the woodstove going. This insured that my pipes would not freeze. Jim B., Michele, and Deb kept me supplied with wood. I was able to get out after 4 days and get a shower. Beth sent lentil soup and bread. Astonishing<br \/>\nhow even a little violence<br \/>\neases the mind.<\/p>\n<p><a href='http:\/\/www.xorph.com\/mom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/100_4633.JPG' title='100_4633.JPG'><img src='http:\/\/www.xorph.com\/mom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/100_4633.JPG' alt='100_4633.JPG' \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In this extreme state of light<br \/>\neverything seems flawed: the streaked<br \/>\npane, the forced bulbs on the sill<br \/>\nthat refuse to bloom&#8230;A wad of dust<br \/>\nrolls like a desert weed<br \/>\nover the drafty floor.<br \/>\n<a href='http:\/\/www.xorph.com\/mom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/100_4645.JPG' title='100_4645.JPG'><img src='http:\/\/www.xorph.com\/mom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/100_4645.JPG' alt='100_4645.JPG' \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Again I recall a neighbor&#8217;s<br \/>\nsmall affront \u00e2\u20ac\u201d it rises in my mind<br \/>\nlike the huge banks of snow along the road:<br \/>\nthe plow, passing up and down all day,<br \/>\npushes them higher and higher&#8230;<br \/>\n<a href='http:\/\/www.xorph.com\/mom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/100_4676.JPG' title='100_4676.JPG'><img src='http:\/\/www.xorph.com\/mom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/100_4676.JPG' alt='100_4676.JPG' \/><\/a><br \/>\nThe shadow of smoke rising from the chimney<br \/>\nmoves abruptly over the yard.<br \/>\nThe clothesline rises in the wind.
