No matter how much preparation I do, the annual plein-air challenge forces me to cut and paste faster than at any other time. This year I made <a href=\"http:\/\/www.xorph.com\/jadixon\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/AspectWithApse_study.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><em>a tiny preliminary study<\/em><\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.xorph.com\/jadixon\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/JADixon_withCollagePainting.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.xorph.com\/jadixon\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/JADixon_withCollagePainting.jpg\" title=\"JAD with his collage painting (portrait by Nell Horman)\" width=\"168\" height=\"168\" \/ hspace=\"22\" vspace=11\" align=right \/><\/a>of my intended composition the previous day, and I think that helped me stay impressionistic enough to meet the speed constraint.
