I’m writing way too much today. NewsBruiser makes it so easy!
From the back of my instant lemonade tub:
To make 1 quart, fill cap with mix up to line "A." Pour mix from cap into pitcher and add 1 quart cold water; stir to dissolve. To make multiple quarts, repeat instructions.
My instant lemonade tub was designed by a programmer.

I’ve been connecting with people through the interweb for a long time now, especially via tar pits; one of my first was the Highlander tv series board at Rysher.com, which doesn’t even exist anymore. That was where I discovered fanfic, mostly because of the things this one funny, talented college person wrote. Eventually I’d start writing my own, because of those, and when I was done with fanfic I started writing original things, and now here I am.
Anyway, I lost track of my original inspiration for years, until yesterday a chain of idle thoughts led me to google for a name–and bam, she’s got a Livejournal.
This is really kind of cool, and it’s one of the reasons I want everyone I know to have a blog: nobody ever really has to leave my life. On the other hand, it’s also a little strange. Her writing style, and everything it says about her personality, have apparently changed very little in the span of half a decade. I’ve changed radically in that time, or I believe I have, but what does her station say about that belief?

Which is a lot funnier if I don’t tell you it’s from “DVD Maker.”

I accidentally threw away my first microfiber glasses-cleaning cloth with my broken case, a couple of weeks ago. I’ve been casting about for another one ever since, substituting shirttails and paper towels. Coincidentally, I started carrying a handkerchief in my pocket back in April, and almost always have it with me.
It wasn’t until today that it occurred to me that these two things might be related. Man, how did I ever graduate?

Sites blocked by the filter software here at work:
I can see blocking the Onion–it probably used to eat up a lot of bandwidth–but Prettygirl? It uses some explicit language, but hell, so does this site. Then again, the policy listed at the bottom of the “site blocked” page includes this:
Internet policy: Inappropriate Usage
... Any activity that propagates a political, racial or sexual opinion.
And I guess “girls are pretty” does qualify.
Man, I’m jealous now. I want to get blocked too! I think it’s a status symbol, like getting your book banned. Any suggestions? Hey, filtering software! I voted for Dave Barry, and I find black men attractive!

Just moments ago, I, Brendan Adkins, closed my first issue! And promptly got busted for blogging at work. I think I’m a real professional now.
