I went to a meeting with a guy at the Texas Roadhouse corporation today. I guess it went okay. It was just to start up some communication, or that’s what I thought. It seemed almost more like an interview for a job, but I knew I couldn’t be hired until June, and they didn’t have anything open that I knew of. So it was more informal, I guess. I don’t know what to take from it, other than the fact that I can’t sell myself and I don’t know what I want to do with my life. He said he would try to help me, networking, etc., but soon I need to figure out my salary range and have something that I can say I’m really good at that I can bring to a company. My degree from Oxford isn’t enough, not that I ever thought it was. And my internships are all over the place, they just show I can be a temporary worker, not really any of my skills. I can do what you tell me to do, that’s my specialty. If anybody has any ideas for me, let me know.

My grandma called me this morning, and said, “Happy Birthday yesterday! Or the day before! You haven’t come up here and I forgot about you.” I love my grandparents on my dad’s side.

So two days ago I was staying my last night housesitting in Richmond. Then I went to Kelley Ridge and met my mom and we had my birthday dinner together, and I stayed there in Lancaster. Then yesterday I came up to Louisville to hang out with Holly and Rita and drop off furniture, and stayed at Kyle’s. It really is true that often I’m never in one place for more than one night at a time. My friends have asked me how long I’m going to be up here in Louisville, and I say I don’t know. I just pack enough into my car so that it doesn’t really matter. It can be fun living spontaneously, but I’m really looking forward to next year when I can stay in one city for a whole year. Then I’ll probably move somewhere else to go to grad school, but a whole year in one place sounds like heaven right now.

I’ve been doing better on working on my thesis, although at this very moment, I’m procrastinating by writing in my blog. In between turning in one chapter to my supervisor and starting the next one, I’ve gone to the beach with Kyle’s family to move Kyle’s brother into Coastal Carolina University and I’ve been reading Atlas Shrugged, which I have had to force myself to put down (I’ll have an entry on that once I’m finished). I’ll pick it back up when I have time and plan on finishing it by the time I get to the beach with my family over Labor Day weekend. My mom said I’m not allowed to do any schoolwork while we are there. It’s going to be the first family vacation with all of us in a while, and probably the last in a while, unless we all fly out to Hawaii to visit Ian. I’m really looking forward to it. I tell people I usually only write my blog when I’m in England, and it really is because that’s the only exotic or exciting part of my life. Now this entry sounds just boring, but that’s my life. It can be good to have some non-exciting parts. Especially now that I’ve reached the ripe old age of 23. It sounds so much older than 22, and I still feel like I’m 17, especially after a guy at the state fair called his wife over to guess how old Rita and I were. He was amazed that we were in college and his wife thought we were juniors in high school. Love it.

Well, we got some awards at least. Our 48-hour film, Good in Red, won the best actress award and the best writing award. And I helped some with the script, with the beginning. And I was even listed as Script Editor. Will wrote most of it though. But it was still cool for our group to win something. Yay!!
