So my new internship…
A million times better than the last. I love the people I’m working with. They’re more like a community, and they actually give me work to do. I mean, I’m not crazy busy all the time, but it’s good. There are two other interns, although they’ll be leaving in a little over a week, which makes me sad because I really like both of them. One applied for a full-time job, but she doesn’t think she’ll get it, or at least they won’t decide on hiring someone before she has to find a job.
Today, Beth - one of the other interns - and I learned how to make coffee. Whenever someone comes in for an interview or meeting or something, we ask them if they would like something to drink. This one guy today asked for coffee. So Beth and I went into the kitchen. He had already been waiting a while because we couldn’t get a hold of the person he was supposed to meet with and they were out of the office. So there were two coffeemakers and two cans of coffee, one decaf and one regular. But both coffeemakers had coffee in them. Neither Beth nor I drink coffee. So we contemplate microwaving it to speed things up because we didn’t want the guy to have to wait. As it’s in the microwave, David, a full-time guy comes in and says, “You can’t microwave coffee.” So he shows us how to make coffee, and we brought it into the guy with cream and sugar on the side. I used to make coffee for my mom all the time, but now she doesn’t drink it much, so I’ve completely forgotten how.
By the way, that’s not what I spend most of my time doing. The other interns and I are actually finishing work on a proposal for a new client. Exciting!!
